I know I do. Weather will be quiet Saturday and Sunday, with highs moving from the low to the upper 30’s. Thursday evening brought another inch or two of snow to central Indiana, and another inch is possible today, before fading to flurries by this evening.
Snow Patrol
Most of our weather watchers have phoned in with two inch totals from the snow earlier today. The National Weather Service in Indy logged an inch and a half. The next system arrives by late afternoon or evening Thursday. Some snow then, and more of a freezing rain/sleet threat by early Friday morning. Please Stand […]
No Tipping Please
How windy was it Sunday? This mobile weather watcher couldn’t help but notice a tipped toilet during an extended walk with Mrs. Poteet. Neither of us was in the building at the time. Winds are cold today, but no 50 mph gusts. Looks like some snow early Wednesday–nothing heavy, but an inch or two is […]
Not So Manic Monday
Everything seems deflated in weather-land. Yesterday’s low pressure system is pulling away, lowering wind speeds. West winds are pulling in colder air, lowering temperatures. Some places could see the upper single digits tonight, and after today….we won’t see anything above freezing again until Friday. A couple of waves will spit snow showers on us. One […]
Flurries Fly
Some cold left overs from yesterday’s system. The day starts with flurries, and ends with some sunshine. Next light snow chance is late Thursday evening into Friday.
No Heavy Snow
No remaining snow warnings, no advisories, and no heavy snow warnings today! Just an inch or two expected, by late afternoon. Freezing rain could be a problem at times around Shelbyville, Bloomington, and Columbus.
Snow Coming
Low pressure looms for your Tuesday morning drive time. Snow could start late night Monday, and probably won’t end until late afternoon Tuesday. The heaviest snow will fall from around 3am to Noon. We could see 2-5 inches across central Indiana. Updates on tv and radio Monday morning. Anyone can buy bread when there’s a […]
Buy Bread!
Boy, bread buying is the ONE thing I haven’t done today. Spent lots of time gazing and glazing over all the model data for the ice and snow storm. Of course, the usual radio fun with the best 5 stations in central Indiana. Just after 10am Tom and I taped the initial segment of a […]
Snow Show
Go here for closings and delays. Weather service short term updates are here. Storm reports are here. Here’s what the Weather Service is thinking: UPDATE @ 1AM FRIDAY: The Weather Service updated this map since I originally typed the following…so actually, we don’t really disagree much now at all. What a beautiful world! I agree […]
Today’s Weather
Couple of days in between systems. Last night’s low is off to the Great Lakes, and our potential heavy snow maker for Thursday night into Friday is still coming together to the southwest. The biggest deal today will be the small wind chill numbers. Nothing much over zero expected. It stays pretty quiet until Thursday […]
Today’s Weather
Storms this afternoon could cause damaging winds around central Indiana. Keep up with today’s warnings here.Just looked at the latest “Truecast” data, which still has the cold front still moving through the state from around 7 to 9pm tonight. That’s when the wind gets even gustier, (typing that term was gutsy-is “gustier” even a real […]
Blizzard Of ’78
What were you doing 30 years ago today? If you’re “from around here” you probably still have a memory of dealing with the major snow storm that brought blizzard conditions to Indiana. I was a ninth grader who didn’t mind seeing the snow days pile up like drifts on a county road. It seemed like we were […]
