November begins with more sun and less wind. So far, I like it.
The Sandy/SuperStorm remains are sliding into Canada, leaving us with a clear morning start and the possibility of a few afternoon and evening clouds. Friday is looking good.
If you’re running the Indy Monumental Saturday…sorry. I am now putting in a slight shower chance, as low pressure zips through central and southern Indiana. It doesn’t appear there’s much moisture to work with, so let’s call it a slight chance for now. Go have a bagel and try not to worry about it.
Weather looms much larger over the NYC Marathon this weekend.
I can tell you that the course mostly avoids areas hit hardest by flooding. BUT–you already have to get up really early to catch the shuttle busses to Staten Island, and with so many transportation options shut down…you’ll get up even earlier.
I also remember how crowded the Airport was on the Thursday before the race, and can only imagine what it will be like today through the weekend. As far as the actual forecast: maybe a few showers in New York today, but dry and in the low 50s this weekend.
INDY OCTOBER RECAP:
Indy has 12 days with measurable precipitation, and the first trace of snow on the 30th.
There was 3.87 inches of precip for the month, which is .75 inches above average.
The highest temperature was 78 on the 24th, and the lowest was 31 on the 8th. If you average all the month’s temps, it comes out to 52.7 degrees, and that’s 2.3 below average.
It was the third consecutive of above average precipitation, and the second consecutive month of below average temperatures.
We did have that thermometer in a sweet spot from October 21-25, when the highs were between 69 and 78. Since then, it hasn’t been above 53, and that looks likely to continue for at least a week. The 8-14 Day Outlook (attached) does promise warmer temps for the second week of November.
