Let’s review: it rained yesterday, and it’s gonna rain tomorrow. No rain today, and, oh by the way: warmest days of the week. The sun is shining on Central Indiana today. Except when it isn’t, and that’s the whole idea today. Here are all kinds of eclipsed-related links.
ECLIPSE (Early to Mid Afternoon) (Via NWS Indianapolis:) There still remains the issue of cirrus drifting into the region from the southwest during the timeframe of the eclipse but do have some concerns that models are overdoing that coverage somewhat based on satellite data early this morning. The cirrus is currently located across the southern Rockies into the Texas panhandle and Oklahoma. The cirrus will move up into the Ohio Valley by early afternoon and will be present to some degree during the eclipse. That being said…questions still persist at this stage as to exactly how opaque the high clouds will be. Based on the current satellite depiction to our southwest mentioned above…am cautiously optimistic that the cirrus will be thin and result in only minor impacts to eclipse viewing. Temperatures will rise into the low and mid 70s this afternoon…but expect a 3-5 degree drop around totality along with a drop in wind speeds before both recover as the eclipse ends.
