A cold front’s coming, but the drought isn’t going anywhere. The best chance for your rain dance is afternoon through early evening today. Sheriff Paul’s chasing those storms outta town after sunset.
On the other side of the cold front – even drier air! You’ll notice the humidity is a notch lower Friday. Not that it’s been tropical. But it has been hot. Yesterday was the 9th day of 90+ weather this season. A typical summer brings us 18.
There were over 20 record highs set across ten states yesterday, from Maine down to West Virginia. Same temperatures, same stations today.
Computer programmers constantly work with a thing called “if…then.” IF we don’t see rain today THEN we will set a new record for the driest June on record in Indy. And even IF it does rain THEN I still think this month will be in the Top 3 for that dis-honor.
The reason? Little chance of rain after today through the 4th Of July. I’ve deleted the slim chance I had in the forecast for Saturday night. Here’s the 8-14 day temperature forecast, which goes through Independence Day, and shows red, white, blue, and BROWN over Indiana, at least with respect to precipitation.
Fireworks will be tricky this year. The count of counties with burn bans in place is now up to 42. Here’s that chart.
INDY ALMANAC:
The average high today is 84 and the average low is 64. Records are 98 and 41. The sunrise time is 6:17 and it sets at 9:17.
UV INDEX:
Before the storm chance arrives it’ll still be sunny. The index is 10. (Very High.)
POLLEN COUNT:
In “low” territory today, then “low-medium” Friday through the weekend.
