I was on the phone with a friend of mine Thursday night and we had some laughs, as we always did. We also discussed the progress of a business deal between us that had been in the works since last Fall and would finally happen in two weeks.
All was good.
Friday afternoon I learned that Cliff Nicholson was gone, apparently from a heart attack. Me and Mrs. P. (who got to know him over the last few months) were shocked. It’s taken me a day to get my thoughts together.
Clifford was always fun to have around in the weather office, blessed with an easygoing nature which is not exactly common in TV-land. He had a goofy, mischievous sense of humor. He loved his three cats, including “Skipper,” the one with three legs. He LOVED living on the water in Cicero. The picture attached to this post is from his place on Morse.
He was proud of his forensic meteorology business, Weather History Research, which he founded over a decade ago. Clifford had been fighting some health issues for awhile, and wanted to make sure that his many customers would continue to receive excellent service, and that his company would continue on as he retired completely. I will do everything I can to see that his gets his wish. I am sad he won’t have the retirement he hoped for with his wife Pam. I’m glad I knew him, and I’m glad so many of you got to know him via TV. RIP Clifford.
I didn’t know Cliff personally except by seeing his weather forecast each night. He was without exception a gentleman in every way. Kind hearted and just very nice. I am sorry to have lost a good man like he was thought of by many, many people. Praying for his wife and family. May God comfort and heal your loss and pain.
Strangely so, I came in from cutting the grass and thought, “I wonder what Cliff will say about this sunny day?” He must be thinking about us Hoosiers.
