Sirens sounded just after 2:30pm today in Johnson County, because of a public report, which proved accurate, of a funnel cloud in the vicinity of Ind. 135 and Johnson County Road 500 North.
The Weather Service did not issue a warning. There was no circulation detected by radar, but it’s not immediately clear to me why a warning wasn’t issued based upon the public report. Nevertheless, no major damage and no injuries have been reported. It is also not clear whether the rotating cloud ever made contact with the ground, although there seems to be damage to fields and at least one roof, along with a pole barn A weak tornado struck near Trafalgar in Johnson County Tuesday night.
