One sure cure for cabin fever is pounding the pavement. I’m involved in a couple of races in the next few weeks. You should join me.
The Will Power Race For Riley started in 2002, when Warren Township came together to support a boy named Will, who had Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
They’ve donated over $140,000 to Riley Hospital for Children the last few years. And even though it’s only 2 weeks away, you still have time to sign up for this year’s event. If you can’t do a 5 or 10k, you can do the 1 mile walk. My son and I will see you there on the first day of SPRING, March 20. Full disclosure: I’m involved in the group’s website and social media, in addition to my running role that day.
I’m also involved in the Talk Walk Run, coming May 1st at Ft. Benjamin Harrison. It raises funds and awareness for children with hearing loss through an organization called Hear Indiana. Hearing loss is one of the most common birth defects. Early intervention is key. Go “here” to sign up. I’ll be doing some emceeing before and after the race, in case you’ve ever wondered “what does Mister Weatherman look like when he’s really humid?”
I’ll also be running the Geist Half in May. That race recently announced a Health & Wellness Grant Program designed to fund healthy initiatives within schools.
That should keep me busy and keep cabin fever at bay. I’d run the Mini, but I think they’ve run… out of room.
