SUNDAY UPDATE: First of all, another dry day with highs in the 20’s. Enjoy the quiet (albeit colder than average) weather this weekend. Two more storms are likely before Christmas. There isn’t much change from yesterday’s thinking, other than snow could begin as light snow later Monday afternoon, and it will change from snow to sleet/freezing rain southwest to northeast overnight into morning drive Tuesday. The most likely scenario is 1-3 inches snow across central Indiana, with the lowest totals southwest and the highest totals northeast, where it will take the longest to switch to mixed precip. Tuesday morning drive will be the biggest sore spot.
Storm number 1 should arrive sometime the second half of Monday, and be a travel factor Monday afternoon through Tuesday. It will probably produce yet another round of accumulating snow Monday night and may mix with freezing rain or sleet as it slides across Central Indiana Tuesday morn.
Storm number 2 could begin by midday Christmas Eve. This one may pack even more of a snow making punch, and as was the case late last week, the southern third of the state could see mixed precipitation, and lots of us. Here’s one computer projection for Friday, with the storm moving along the Ohio River:
Even though both events are a few days a way you might want to consider arranging your pre-Christmas errands and travel toward Monday, and then again Wednesday & Thursday. You’re welcome. (If I’m right.)
