Here’s the problem: it was overcast at Indy from 3am Saturday until 7pm Sunday. (The overcast began lifting late in the afternoon.) Here’s the solution: SUNSHINE today, after a frosty and foggy start.
Today’s temps will be near average, but the rest of the month and year will be below normal. Still…the month will go into the books above average. Only May and June have hit that mark this year. And December (relative to average) is the warmest of the three.
(Grandpa Poteet already thought this month was above average.)

But now: the pattern changes. Clouds return tonight, and tomorrow is likely to be dreary, with a few flurries and colder highs. Blame an upper air disturbance for that. The prime mover at the surface will be high pressure sliding into the States from Canada.
And Thursday. (Happy New Year.)
Low pressure organizes to the west and southwest Friday.
Computer modeling brings precip chances here either Friday or Saturday. (Or, not here at all – just south of us Friday night.) There are also differences with respect to temperatures. Your best bet right now is to expect a weekend storm that will probably bring rain and some snow/wintry mix. Heavy snow wouldn’t be a concern, but icy conditions could be, at least Friday night.
INDY ALMANAC
