A cold front zips through the state today, bringing some light snow, mainly in the northern half of the state where there could be a dusting.
There’s a push of milder air from the south ahead of the front, but don’t get used to it. The flow goes more westerly by afternoon and it will be colder again tonight and tomorrow. The wind will gust to 30 mph, yielding chills in the teens in the morning and 20s in the afternoon.
High pressure drifts over the state Thursday night through Friday – and combined with the upper level trough moving away – the sky will be mostly clear.
The sky will cloud up Friday night and low pressure moves in from Texas. Moisture arrives, but the layer of air just above the surface will be above freezing, while surface temps lag behind. That’s a setup for freezing rain. Sleet is also possible. The biggest chance of that wintry mix will be about Midnight-9am Saturday. There won’t be a lot moisture at that point, but it could be a little slippery.
Then: rain chances Saturday, with rain likely Saturday night through Monday morning.
More than an inch of precipitation could fall.
