Maybe it was the endorphins, but I think I saw Jesus somewhere around Mile 14 of the long run today. I may ask Him in church tomorrow what he was doing on 126th Street. It was a great run, and then a great walk with Mrs. P. We accidentally ended up in the middle of a street festival. I have a loading dose of Aleve going for any soreness tomorrow.
We DVR’d “My Name Is Earl” and “The Office” and watched them Friday evening, figuring we’d need some laughs before watching the debate and becoming agitated. We weren’t disappointed. I thought both shows debuted stronger than they did last season. Earl got waaay off the track for several episodes with the whole Earl-in-prison gimmick. I like the show’s ability to mix raunchy humor with warm and even uplifting plots…without being overly sentimental or preachy. (“Tonight on a very special My Name Is Earl!”) I wouldn’t say The Office is uplifting, but it was awfully funny right out of the gate.
The ratings were down for the first episodes of both, as you hear me talk about in the latest Cell Phone Show, but they were also down for the debates compared to Bush/Kerry in 2004, so maybe it’s the just the continuing gradual drift away from broadcast TV. Ouch. Who’s gonna bail us out? Speaking of bail outs and politics: I don’t really do politics on here, but me and the Mrs. took points off for J Mac’s pulsating tie and Obama’s makeup.
