Same as it ever was today, with scattered morning showers and spotty thunderstorms this afternoon that have the potential to produce small hail. Blame the latest wave to rotate around a large lumbering low in Canada’s upper atmosphere.
Best chances for thunderstorms and biggest rain today will be in the southeast part of the state, and they could use it most. Most of central Indiana will see less than a half inch. Several spots saw small hail from the storms yesterday afternoon.
That low finally lets go tomorrow, getting out of the way in time for (drumroll) The Best Day Of The Week on Wednesday. Meanwhile, (at the Hall Of Justice) low pressure comes together in the southern Plains and taps Gulf Of Mexico moisture. Rain chances here return Thursday, with the best chances and biggest amounts in the central and southern third of the state. That moisture should stay suppressed just to the south of central Indiana Friday and Saturday, although there could be showers at times from around Seymour southward.
Big time change in the pattern again as another trough of low pressure kicks a ridge up over the state Sunday, perhaps spinning up a few showers. Milder air just ahead of this big change-maker should get us to 70 – with rain – Monday and Tuesday, before temps go below average again by the middle of next week.
