The Arctic express by itself is enough to put us in the deep freeze, but a foot of fresh snow on the ground, and a partly clear sky doesn’t hurt.
You can see on the left a plot of heaviest snow versus lightest snow from yesterday. The green would indicate about 1-3 inches of accumulation. The chart on the right is one of the high resolution models modeling low temps tonight. Those with very little snow on the ground tonight should expect a low generally about five degrees “warmer” than places that are buried in white. So: perhaps around -12 in Columbus and Bloomington, and -18 in Kokomo and Muncie. The Indy low forecast is -17.
Chills tonight will run from 30 to 40 below, and a WIND CHILL WARNING continues until 7pm Tuesday.
