Cold weather dominates Thanksgiving week in central Indiana, but we’ll be the safe sandwich between two heaping helpings of travel trouble. The most widespread travel threat will be bring mainly rain, and some snow to the southeast and east parts of the country Tuesday and Wednesday. Heavy snow is possible in eastern Ohio, western Pennsylvania, and upstate New York. A slippery mix is possible in the western parts of western Virginia, the Carolinas, and northern Georgia Tuesday night and Wednesday. We have two shots at snow, and neither should be a big travel headache. Some flurries or snow showers are possible late this afternoon and tonight, with little if any accumulation. Up to an inch may fall closer to the Indiana/Michigan border. The second chance is the second big Thanksgiving travel threat. Lake Effect Snow is likely to develop Tuesday night into Wednesday, with a heavy snow potential for the usual suspect, and the possibility that snow showers or flurries could dust the northern half of Indiana just before the holiday. At this time it doesn’t look like the snow would sock Chicago (and its Airports.) INDY ALMANAC: Today’s average high is 47 and the average low is 31. Records are 69 and -2.
