Another round of recent rain combines with a moist air mass and little air movement to bring dense fog to central Indiana Wednesday morning. An advisory runs until 9 a.m. Rain totaled up to 2 inches from a storm that traveled out of Hendricks County into the northwest corner of Marion County, then into Hamilton County, eventually all the way northward to Wabash County, where street flooding was reported. Wednesday should be significantly quieter, with the upper level low pressure system finally getting weaker and farther to the west. A pop-up shower or storm could fire Wednesday, but the biggest chances are northwest of Indianapolis. If we celebrated the third of July, everything would be fine. However, another low pressure system makes landfall on the Gulf of Mexico Wednesday, and I think it will move northward Thursday, and give at least the southeastern two-thirds of Indiana shots at showers and storms. The chance will be smaller in Lafayette than in Richmond, but there’s still a chance. No particular time of day is favored Thursday. Daily storm chances are still in place for the rest of the seven-day forecast. As promised, Lafayette made it only to 69 Tuesday. The high in South Bend was 66, and it was the coolest high temperature for July 2 since the 1940s. INDY ALMANAC: The average high today is 85 and the average low is 66. Records are 100 and 49.
