There are some hard #’s on definitions by the NWS, but just rough #’s from me: Isolated is less than 25% cvroeage, scattered is 25% to 50% cvroeage, numerous is 50% to 75%, and widespread is greater than 75%. And yes you can still have widespread showers because technically they are difined to be convective in nature, though the term is used interchangeably with rain , and we just seem to be ok with it.Pop-up showers can be associated with anything but most of the time they are going to take place in an unstable atmosphere with a cool pool of air above. It is another somewhat loosely-applied term.
