Last Wednesday Ft. Wayne was a few degrees below 90. Monday night they’ll be a few degrees below freezing. A Freeze Watch is in place just north and northeast of Indianapolis for Monday night into Tuesday morning. Credit a cold front coming tonight.
PP NETWORK HIGHS TODAY:
63 South Bend

Today starts with fog and clouds, but clearing should arrive from the northwest starting late morning around Lafayette, around lunch time in Indy, and mid afternoon around Shelbyville. Temps today should be about the same as yesterday’s above normal numbers. After the Monday through Tuesday morning cool down we will go back above average for the rest of the month.
TUESDAY MORNING LOWS
30 Ft. Wayne
32 Muncie, South Bend
34 Anderson
36 Lafayette
37 Indianapolis, Bloomington
38 Terre Haute
44 Evansville
The average final spring freeze of 32 degrees or less comes April 17 in Indy. OK: follow me on this. If it doesn’t freeze Monday night, which it probably won’t in Indy, and it doesn’t freeze any more this Spring… then we’ll set a new record for the earliest final freeze ever. The present date is March 24.
Long term trends still point to above average temperatures into the start of April. There is a slight risk of severe weather Tuesday night, and it looks like another bumpy episode could come around Monday or Tuesday of next week.
Friday night’s hail-of-a-storm lived on Saturday night just before sunset in Fairland, where @alexiskay2002 on Twitter sent me a picture of “hail on the ground out here near Fairland by 74!” I’ve attached it to this post.
WIKI-POTEETIA:
Just in case you feel you’re not making any personal progress today, Dan Neil writing recently in the Wall Street Jounral noted that:
*Observers on Earth’s surface rotate around its axis at 40 meters/second.
*Earth revolves around the sun at at rate of 30 kilometers/second.
*Sun rotates around center of Milky Way Galaxy at 220 km/second.
*Milky Way being “dragged in a stately gyre toward constellation Virgo at 370 km/second.
Forget Virgo. Now I’ve got Vertigo. Excuse me while I sit down for the rest of this column.
