It’s day 3 of a Summer Streak, with a little more of a breeze, gusting to 20-30 mph this afternoon. Also just a bit more humidity. The record high of 92 in Indy is in no danger, but we will be at least 10 degrees above average. The upper level ridge to the west finally breaks down tonight and allows a weakening line of showers and storms into the state. There is a risk of severe weather, mainly from Lafayette westward.
That’s closer to a surface low pressure system, and trailing cold front.
Any lingering showers or storms will end early Wednesday. More clouds and less heat tomorrow. Storms will again fire up later Wednesday afternoon and especially Wednesday evening as the front sags southward. Wednesday evening is the biggest chance of showers and storms that could be severe, mostly south and southeast of Indy. Damaging wind gusts and large hail are the main threats.
An upper wave and stalled surface front will keep showers and storms mainly south on Thursday. Another upper wave will move in the southwest flow into the area on Friday, bringing more showers and thunderstorms. Yet another upper wave will bring more rain around Sunday. However, timing and specific path of these upper waves at this far out in the forecast remains uncertain. Say a prayer, race fans.
