Today’s map shows deep low pressure over southwest Kansas, with an upper-level trough stretching north across western Minnesota. Strong high pressure is over the east coast. This was resulting in a moderate easterly flow of mild, dry air to Central Indiana. Mid and high-altitude clouds will move into the state today, along with temps in the 60s.
As the system approaches tonight, winds will get even gustier, an a Wind Advisory is in place 6pm Monday until 6pm Tuesday.
Rain will be steady late this evening and overnight, with up to a half-inch possible. The biggest rain and storm chance Tuesday in the Lafayette area will be from 11a-2p, around the Indy Metro from 1-4p, and around Anderson and Muncie from 2-5pm. There is a marginal risk of severe weather Tuesday, with damaging wind gusts being the biggest threat, although an isolated tornado is possible.
