Oor next big chance at Drought bustin’ (and dust bustin’, I guess) arrives Sunday. The latest Drought Monitor continues to show a Severe Drought creeping into Lafayette and The Region of northwest Indiana. Things aren’t quite as bad east and south of Indy.
The rain maker will follow a day of blistering sunshine Saturday. The stagnant weather pattern of the last week (an upper level low east and southeast of Indiana) is totally changing. At the surface a low pressure system will eventually drag through a cold front later Sunday.
It will be a muggy Sunday, with heat and humidity combining for a good shot at not only rain, but also some severe thunderstorms, with a “negatively-tilted” trough overhead later in the day. The biggest risk of severe weather will be east and southeast of Indy.
Here’s a look at possible total rainfall.
