Good question from @annekuka yesterday. Why is Indiana so cloudy in the winter?
One reason: the lower Winter sun angle. Coldest air is often at ground level, under a layer of warmer air leading to inversions where condensation/clouds spread out. In Summer strongly heated air at surface is not as stable and grows vertically into puffy cumulus rather than widespread overcasts.
Wish we had some puffy cumulus today. BORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRING!
It’s boring for would-be snow shovelers also. The next seven days look pretty quiet around here.
