Wet…not white! Indy is set to go 50+ for the second Christmas in a row. (We hit 51 last year.) This would be the first time for back to back 50+ Christmas Days since 1888 and 1889. The focus is on a YUGE storm system winding up to the West. The first advance of milder air will spur showers Friday afternoon and evening. There may be some sleet and freezing rain mixed in from Indy northward, but at the moment surface temperatures and expected moisture aren’t pointing to a problem such as last Friday night. Stay tuned. Then: just clouds on Saturday. Sunday morning we are quiet and above freezing around Daybreak. (Click to enlarge maps.) And there’s the rain by late afternoon Christmas Day. You can see where snow will be a travel problem. That colder air will trail the cold front that moves through here later Monday, but most of the moisture should be gone by then. Ahead of the front: a breezy day, and there could be thunder also Monday! Here’s *one* modeling flavor’s view of where snow will be on Christmas Day.
