Only three days this month have been totally free of precipitation in Indy. Good thing nothing much happens around here in May, am I right? There will be practice at the Track today, after things were rained out yesterday.
What about this weekend? The question mark remains low pressure that will be just to the south and southeast of us Friday afternoon into Saturday morning.
Nothing’s going to be rained out, but there is still a lingering slight shower chance early Saturday.
What about the weekend after that? What are you, crazy? OK, I’ll bite. At the moment it appears the pattern will have flattened out and that Indy would expect typical temps (highs in the mid 70s) and relatively quiet weather for the parade and the Race.
Yesterday’s dreary weather got a little more exciting with the siting of a cold air funnel. Click here for the story.
Cold air funnel? This has been a Cold air month, period, as far as Indiana’s Weatherman is concerned. We are running an average of 3.5 degrees below normal, and there’s only been one day above 80. “What happened to the above-average Spring?” someone asked yesterday on Facebook. Still gonna happen, thanks to March and April. Indy had the warmest March in over 20 years. Remember when you’re looking at a “seasonal” forecast that it’s all about the overall trend, not a day to day thing.
Having said all that…the most recent Summer (June-July-August) outlook was warmer than average here, and I expect that will remain the same when it is updated in a few days. My personal forecast? By August you will have forgotten about the cool May.
With respect to precipitation: equal chances of it being wetter or drier than average.
PAUL’S PREVIOUS PREDICTION
