A Winter Storm Watch is in place north and west of Indianapolis.
This is the NWS snow forecast:
The change from steady rain (lots of it) to sleet and snow will come Wednesday afternoon from west to east across the Indy metro. It will start in the morning back around Lafayette. Accumulating snow Wednesday night and Thursday morning, tapering to snow showers. Those will fade in the afternoon, and in the evening to the northeast of Indy.
Final totals from Indy northward should be around 3-4 inches. South of I-70 the totals should be around 2-3 inches. Totals will increase sharply just to the north and northwest, where a Winter Storm Watch is in place. Winds Wednesday and Thursday will gust to 35 mph.
The heaviest snow falls to the west and north of that low. This chart shows the percentage of 4 inches or more from Wednesday afternoon through Thursday afternoon.
