SEVERE RISK There’s a marginal risk of severe weather Indy southward Saturday afternoon and evening. Look at these Christmas Day highs! Colder air coming. Keep your eyes on that “low” that initially appears in this loop over the west Texas town of El Paso. It will move northeast and north through Monday. To the west and north of that big low: big snow is forecast. In central Indiana: it’s a rain thing. A Flood Watch is in place. Expect three inches through Monday. There could be mixed precipitation in the northern third of Indiana Sunday night and Monday morning. PAUL’S PREVIOUS PREDICTION The Christmas Day high was 51. My forecast was 52. It was the warmest Christmas Day since 53 in 1987. (We just nudged past the 49-degree high of 2011.) INDY ALMANAC The average high is 36 and the average low is 22. Records are 67 and -5. The sun rises at 8:05 am and sets at 5:27 pm. INDY SEVEN DAY FORECAST Saturday: Rain likely by afternoon. Thunder possible. Flash flood watch starts at 4pm. High 62. Saturday Night: Rain likely. Thunder possible. Low 55. Sunday: Rain likely. Temps will fall into the 40s by afternoon. High 55. Sunday Night: Shower chances. Freeing rain could mix in north of Indy. Low 38. Monday: Rain likely.
