AFTERNOON UPDATE
Indy has reached 32 degrees today! First time since Sunday (Jan 11). #inwx
— NWS Indianapolis (@NWSIndianapolis) January 15, 2015
This month so far in Indianapolis has been running 9.2 degrees below average. That no-good, horrible, terrible January 2014 that you remember you un-fondly? It was 8.0 below average. Most of the country’s been cold. (Graphic via weatherbell.com.)
Of course snow is another story. January 2014? We had 26.9 inches. This month so far? Just 2.3 inches. Now, many places saw 6-7 inches last week just to the north of the Indy Airport, but that would still be way behind the pace of last winter, when over 50 inches fell by the end of the season.
We’ll pop to the low 40s with a big breeze Saturday, and settle in the 30s for several days, as the coldest air stays away. However (dramatic music) another round of Arctic chill is looking likely around the last week of January and the first week of February.
