The change to snow in the morning comes with a cold front that will lower temperatures in the atmosphere above us, so the entire column of air is below freezing. The problem is we’ve had a nice steady layer of milder air just above us, and from 7pm Sunday Night through 6am Monday Morning Indy has been frozen (if you will) at 31 degrees at the surface. That’s the recipe for rain freezing upon contact. Chills will drop back into the 20s today as winds increase behind the front. Expect gusts up to 30 mph. This month is cold so far over much of the country. INDY ALMANAC The average high today is 35 and the average low is 20. Records are 69 and -19. The sun rises at 8:05.
