#inwx Saturday is still the focus for weather trouble. As the storm approaches, mild air will be pulled up into the atmosphere above us. So when the precip starts, snow is not a concern. Freezing rain is. Even though warmer air will be above us, the surface temps will be below freezing at first. Here is one computer model’s surface temp forecast for 7am Saturday. By 1pm the temps are well above freezing, and the precipitation type will be strictly rain in central Indiana. The temperature differences will be driven by low pressure moving northeastward right over the state. Precipitation will start sometime between 3-7am Saturday morning in Indy as freezing rain. Surface temps should climb above freezing by midday, and rain’s the thing for the rest of the day. The northern third of the state could hang on to a messy mix into mid afternoon. Colder air returns after midnight Saturday night, and around an inch of snow could fall Sunday. INDY ALMANAC The average high today is 36 and the average low is 21. Records are 69 and -12.
