The Friday morning Indy low is in the teens for the first time since March 26. This month is running 5.9 degrees below average. If we kept up that pace it would be the chilliest month – relative to average – since that aforementioned March. Glass Half Full: No record lows in sight.
OFFICIAL FRIDAY LOWS

17 Indianapolis, Zionsville
18 Shelbyville
19 Muncie, Terre Haute

The basic setup changes today, with an upper wave moving off to the east, allowing a more westerly flow to go across Indiana today. That should keep the Lake Effect clouds and flurries out of central Indiana. And how ’bout that Lake Effect! South Bend measured 12.3 inches. Another inch or two could fall today. An Advisory continues for the morning.
The sky clears for central Indiana tonight as a surface high pressure system tracks right across the state.
A fresh push of the Polar Jet dives into the Rockies tomorrow, helping set in motion two waves for our Weekend.
The first brings about an inch of snow to the state late Saturday evening through early Sunday morning. Up to two inches could accumulate in the northern quarter of the state.
Expect clouds and a few snow showers during the day Sunday. The second wave hits Sunday night, but the surface low stays quite a bit south of the state. Up to an inch could fall, especially from Indy southward. This chart models all snowfall totals through 7am Monday.
At that point: you can exhale if you sweat over snow. (At least for a week.) Temps will be the big story going into next week. And not because they are warm. The Arctic cold front will arrive Monday, and lows early Tuesday and Wednesday will be even colder than today and tomorrow morning.
