The best moment of Tuesday? At the Indy Airport it was 10:34 am, when the temp hit 61. From 1 to 3pm – as the front passed – it dropped from 56 to 39. Highs won’t go over 40 again through the end of next week.
Highs will be roughly (word chosen carefully) 20 degrees below average TFN. It will get even colder next Monday and Tuesday. Look at the extent of snow cover this morning.
Remember the European model trend with snow totaling 11 inches by the end of next week? (“These snows go to eleven!”) Now: not so much. (Hopefully you remember the 11 inches of disclaimers next to the chart.) Modeling agrees on precipitation Thursday-ish, but this flavor now migrates toward the milder, frozen-and-liquid solution of the other schemes. Additionally, lighter snow of around an inch Sunday has been pretty consistent, but now this particular scheme brings another inch or two up into central Indiana Sunday night into early Monday.
