I can be a procrastinator. So I end up going for a run when all the daily fires are put out…let’s say about 4 or 5 in the afternoon. The last few days I keep expecting to run past changing/falling leaves and houses with pumpkins out front. That sun is getting lower in the sky late in the afternoon, and we’ve been getting high temps that are typical in Mid-October. In the past two weeks only three days have featured above normal temps. It’ll be a few degrees milder today, but still below average.
Surface high pressure moves farther east tomorrow, allowing our flow to go from the north to more of an easterly and southeasterly direction. That should put us in the mid 70s. Those winds will shift to the southwest Saturday, helping to bring 80 degree weather back to much of Indiana.
The front will bring rain and storm chances to the South Bend area Saturday afternoon. Central Indiana will remain mostly to partly sunny. The showers and storms will spread southward Saturday evening, and by late evening they will be possible in the Indy metro. Most of the rain should be finished by late morning Saturday. I am only expecting a quarter to a half inch in central Indiana, with higher amounts possible in the northern third of the state.
Next week looks sweet, with sunshine and temperatures that won’t be quite as chilly.
A sustained warmer-than-average stretch? This procrastinator is putting that off until the last week of the month.
