The difference is the dew point today. That’s the measure of water vapor in the air. People generally begin noticing that dew point when it is in the low to mid 60s. It is considered “tropical” when it gets over 70. Monday and Tuesday it was in the upper 60s to near 70. Today it will be in the upper 50s.
Sunshine will be strong Wednesday morning, giving way to some fair weather clouds by lunch time in the afternoon. A weak cold front will pass through, reinforcing the cool temps tonight, and keeping highs in the upper 70s and low 80s again tomorrow.
The next storm chance arrives later Friday – not until evening around Indy and Muncie, but perhaps by mid to late afternoon in Lafayette and Terre Haute. This push of slightly warmer, and definitely muggier air will be the story this weekend. Still looks like the best storm chances are Sunday, but there is at least a slight chance Friday night and Saturday also.
We’re running about 4 degrees below average on temps so far this month, and I’m expecting we’ll have our first below normal temperature month since March. Funny how that seems a lot easier to accept in what is typically the warmest month of the year in Indiana.
