The colonists fought the British; we fight the clouds. We will win by Independence Day! The morning clouds (and even some sprinkles) are being triggered by an upper level trough of low pressure. It will move along by afternoon. Clear weather is then expected through Saturday, with below normal temperatures. Temps will return to average – and humidity will begin returning – during the day Sunday.
The fireworks forecast is still clear here, with a northeast wind around 5mph.

Two years ago Indiana towns were restricting fireworks because of the blistering heat and lack of rain. Indy’s rain total that year from June 1 up to July 4 was a whopping .09 inches. This year it’s 7.17 inches. And there are no triple digits in the forecast.
And no 90s either. Still waiting on that to officially happen in Indianapolis. It didn’t last year until July 16. Next week brings mid 80s through Wednesday, with daily storm chances. Long range trends point to temps dipping just a little again later next week, and then going a little above average once more the following week.
Arthur is now a Category 1 hurricane, and is expected to move, as promised, near the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The biggest threat is tonight and early on the Fourth. Maximum winds this morning were 75 mph.
