A weak cold front moves through the state today, providing a precipitation focal point. Expect periods of showers and storms through early to mid evening. Up to around an additional inch of rain is possible, with a little more potentially falling from Indy eastward.
A few storms could be strong, with damaging wind and large hail. Gusty winds brought many reports of downed trees and power lines Monday. Trees were reported down across 86th street 1/4 miles of Lafayette Street. A lightning strike apparently near the 161st street exit off of US 31 apparently brought down a tree into the road. A big tree came down on 42nd at Capitol in Indy. Trees also fell in the Garfield Park South neighborhood.
Mister Weatherman is going to give you two days to catch up on cutting the grass. (Or picking up the limbs.) Wednesday and Thursday should feature lower humidity and some sunshine. Another cold front will be dropping through the state Wednesday, but I don’t think it will spark showers..
That front moves back to the north as a warm front Friday. That’s when humidity will return, along with chances of showers and storms. The front will still be around Saturday. As it moves well to the north of central Indiana Sunday and Monday the storm chance should only be an isolated one, and temps will head for the 90 degree mark again.
