We’ve already felt the moisture – today we see the moisture in the form of showers and storms that should bubble up in the afternoon. That should hold the highs down a couple of degrees compared to yesterday, which translates to the low to mid 80s.
Yesterday’s high of 85 was the warmest so far this year in Indy. Compared to the first 85 degree day last year…we are running late. The first 85 in 2013 was May 15. In the hot year of 2012: we’d been there by May 3. Today will be the fourth consecutive above average day, and it’s looking like above normal temperatures will be around for at least another week.
The jet stream has taken an early Summer vacation and gone to Canada. That’s opening the oven doors on our temperatures and keeping the upper air patterns fairly flat, and not conducive to severe weather. There *is* however a chance of locally heavy rainfall from any of these scattered, slow moving storms that picks your place to rain upon.
The storm chances are focused around a weak, slow southward-moving cold front that should get to the Ohio River by Thursday evening. Because of the front’s position, Thursday’s rain chances are pretty slim north of Indy. All of central Indiana will be dry by late Thursday evening, and lower humidity will be around – with sunshine – Friday into the Weekend. Another nice weekend?!?
