Sunday morning temps bottomed out in the 30s, and that should be as cold as it gets for some time. A Frost Advisory in in place for the early morning in Richmond and eastward into Ohio. The temperature in Richmond was down to 34. Lafayette and Bloomington both dropped to 35. Terre Haute and Muncie were down to 37. The official low was 38 in Indy.
Today’s Speedway strategies should be much simpler, at least as far as the weather goes. No rain is expected again until Wednesday. The wind today will only be about 5 mph, out of the southeast. It will be mostly sunny. And the early word on Race Day itself is looking good, with dry weather and a high of 76.
What about the in-between? The best chance of rain this week will be on Wednesday with a frontal system. The upper air pattern this week is a more typical affair, with no upper level low to stall the showers. They should be gone by Thursday morning.
WIKI-POTEETIA: Yesterday was the 6th May day with a high below 60 in Indy. That hasn’t happened in May since 1978! Today is the first completely dry day in Indianapolis in a week.
