The first running of the Gran Prix at IMS shouldn’t face weather problems. The afternoon sky will be partly cloudy, with highs in the mid 70s and west wind around 10 mph.
A cold front sagging slowly through southern Indiana could still trigger passing showers this morning from Richmond back to Bloomington and places south and east of those cities.
That front stalls along the Ohio River today and then gets pushed back to the north as a warm front tomorrow. That means Mom’s Day showers and storms are possible, but it shouldn’t be an all-day threat. Temps will be back up around 80. As that front moves even farther to the north Monday I think central Indiana will be down to a slight shower chance, and the high will go into the low to mid 80s.
The next best chance of widespread showers and storms comes with a cold front Tuesday. Behind the front – for several days – highs will only be in the 60s and there are still threats of showers.
Most of central Indiana missed any big rain yesterday, but storms stubbornly struck a strip from around Marion to Kokomo to Frankfort to south of Lafayette. Around an inch of rain fell, along with reports of hail and a 54 mph wind gust in Frankfort.
