Another significant tornado outbreak is possible today, and although the biggest chances are to the south of Indiana, a slight risk of severe weather is in place for our area later Monday afternoon and evening.
The Storm Prediction Center – which nailed the bulls eye of yesterday’s deadliest storm in Arkansas – feels the biggest risk today is in northern and central Mississippi, northwest Alabama, and western and middle Tennessee.
Indiana’s Monday starts gloomy…not deadly. Rain with a few rumbles of thunder will continue until late morning. The sun should break through for awhile in the afternoon, especially to the west of Indy. Those will be the places with the best chance of cooking up thunderstorms that have a slight risk of becoming severe.
Things should settle down again late tonight and Tuesday morning. Some sunshine tomorrow should help to warm us one more time to the mid 70s, before a cold front arrives by late afternoon. Showers and storms will fire in the late afternoon and evening, and once again could be severe. The biggest risk tomorrow is Indy eastward.
And that’s it for the heat and the storms. But not the upper level low. It moves slowly through the Great Lakes, and I think we’ll still see scattered showers Wednesday, with a slight chance of showers – and highs only in the 50s – Thursday and Friday.
