Good news for finish the weather work week:
1. Morning rain will give way to a dry afternoon and weekend for the Little “500,” Mutt Strutt at the Track, and that yard of yours where the grass is not growing.
2. No really cold air (or snow!) in the forecast for the rest of the month.
3. The USA has experienced fewer tornadoes so far this year than in any year since record-keeping began in 1953, or even before.
The severe threat WILL return this weekend – along with warmer air – in the Plains and move toward us by Tuesday, when the southern third of the state could face bumpy weather. Our biggest threat next week is the potential precipitation. Up to two inches of rain is likely to fall from late Sunday night into Wednesday. The biggest threat comes Monday and Monday night.
Today’s rain is a smaller story. Final totals should stay under a half inch. The rain chances will end in Terre Haute and Lafayette by 9am, in the Indy area by 11am, and by Noon in Muncie and 1pm in Richmond. The sun will break through again through the afternoon and breezes will gust to 30 mph.
Saturday starts sunny and ends up partly sunny. It does appear Sunday will be mostly cloudy, but the weekend will be dry for the fourth consecutive week, meaning there’s one more piece of good news: Our weather in April hasn’t been perfect, but its timing has been good.
