Somebody finally sprung Spring! For awhile. At least the timing’s good. The warmest stretch in six months will stretch through the weekend, before collapsing behind a cold front Monday.
The thunder rolled and the radar lit up overnight. Those showers are moving east along a cold front moving south early Friday. It should reach the Ohio River by Friday afternoon. Clouds will decrease from northwest to southeast today. Rain chances could remain until late morning for Muncie and Richmond.
The biggest difference today? Less wind. And temps will still be mild behind the cold front, reaching the mid to upper 60s. Spring rules again, and the 70s return for both weekend days. Saturday will be partly cloudy. I am keeping a shower and storm chance in Sunday’s forecast, but I wouldn’t cancel daytime plans over it at the moment. The cold front is creeping toward us by Sunday, but the upper air support for showers and storms doesn’t arrive until Sunday night.
And *when* it arrives, oh boy. Monday will be more raw and rainy, with highs only in the 50s. There is still the threat for a few flakes to mix in Monday night as the precipitation ends. Highs will only hit the 40s by Tuesday! We will stay below average until Friday, as high gradually rise through the 50s.
All the more reason to celebrate THIS. These were the official highs Thursday, when Spring finally broke big:
