The most likely time for rain today is in the midday and afternoon. The most likely totals are one-half to three-quarters of an inch. Your most likely reaction? I think I know already. Wait ’til you hear about NEXT week:)
Low pressure starts the day centered over Memphis and works it way northeastward to Dayton by sunset. The farther north and west you are–the smaller your high temp. It will only hit the mid to upper 40s in Lafayette and Terre Haute today, with the low to mid 50s likely in Muncie and Richmond. That low is out of the area tonight, and we just have shower chances tonight.
Another upper air disturbance wanders Indiana tomorrow, and scattered, lighter showers are likely. That system also exits by sunset, setting the stage for two nicer days. The sun returns Wednesday and we ALMOST make it to a normal high temperature!
Warm air pours into the area Thursday, and breezy southerly winds could push the Indy high to 70. That’s significant. Because it hasn’t happened yet this year. The average first 70 degree day is March 19. This is only the 10th year since 1950 that the first 70 degree days hasn’t happened by the first of April.
A quickie system brings rain chances again late Thursday night into early Friday morning, but the next big event looks to happen later Sunday and next Monday. Showers and storms could give way to (wait for it) snow on Monday and early Tuesday.
And did I mention it’s Monday?
