Here’s the thing: there have only been two days in the second half of March with highs above 55 degrees. Today should be another one. In fact, it’ll be the warmest day since a week ago Friday.
A ridge of high pressure nosing into the state will clear the sky and diminish the wind today. It gets even warmer tomorrow. A quick moving cold front will push across the state late Monday evening. The associated rain should stay to the north of central Indiana, but it will be more cloudy Monday night. Highs drop back to the 50s again Tuesday behind the front.
Temps will jump again Wednesday through Friday, and as a front stalls in the area there will be continuing rain chances, with the best shot at showers and storms coming Thursday. Over an inch of precipitation could fall through the period.
What if the precipitation had been all snow yesterday? Five inches could have easily accumulated and we would definitely broken that pesky snow record. But only a trace fell in Indy. I saw reports of about half-an-inch in Lafayette, and it was as high as around an inch to the east toward the Indiana/Ohio border. If it makes you feel any better: today is – on average – the last day Indy gets measurable snow.
