If we ignore Thursday morning – the weather isn’t so bad through Saturday. Wind chills start in the single digits through Thursday morning, but the sky will be brighter and the wind will be lighter today. The peak wind gust yesterday reached 42 mph in Muncie, 41 mph in Indy, and 40 mph in Terre Haute. Most of the storm’s precipitation fell as rain in central Indiana. There was 1.29 of moisture recorded in Indy, but only 0.4 of snow. If it had been ALL snow….
That scenario would have definitely changed our running Snow Scoreboard. I’ve been tracking the grand total of the Snow Year that started last July and ends at the end of June 2014. Yesterday’s light snow in Indy pushes us to 55.1 inches. Closer, but we still need 3.2 inches for the all-time crown.
Snow totals Wednesday were higher north of I-70. Here’s a random sampling, from my followers and National Weather Service reports:
6.7″ Fort Wayne
5.0″ South Bend
4.8″ Logansport
4.1″ Frankfort
3.9″ Marion
3.7 Kokomo
3.2″ Lafayette
2.5″ Muncie
2.2″ Anderson
1.0″ Carmel
The next snow shower chance is mainly for Indy southward, and comes Sunday, connected with a low pressure system to the south. There’s a shot at plain rain next Tuesday and Wednesday. Temperatures are all over the place in the 7 Day Forecast. It’s March Madness, I tell ya!
