Shorter Weather: Sixties….snow…single digits.
I’ll start with the good news, aka “today.” You’d have to go back to November 17th to find a warmer day. It’ll be close to 70 this afternoon in Bloomington. Heck, it’ll be close to 80 in St. Louis. Lafayette will be right around 60. Same with Muncie. Low 60s in Richmond. Mid 60s in Indy, and upper 60s in Terre Haute and Columbus.
HIGHS YESTERDAY:
57 Richmond, Lafayette
58 Muncie
60 Indy
63 Bloomington
65 Terre Haute
Make some memories today. I don’t see temps like this again for at least ten days. Things change quickly tonight with the development of rain and some thunder, along with gusty winds.
When the rain to snow change arrive? It should start in the Lafayette-Kokomo areas around 5am tomorrow, and move into the Indy Metro by around 7am. There could be a period of sleet between the rain and snow. The snow will end from west to east Wednesday afternoon. Expect 1-3 inches along the I-70 corridor. Once you get north of Anderson over to Frankfort those totals will be 2-5 inches, and a Winter Weather Advisory is in place. There will be around an inch around Bloomington and Columbus.
The wind Wednesday is wicked, gusting to 40 mph and creating issues with visibility from blowing snow. Not to mention the negative numbers that the wind chill will generate by Wednesday night, as we stay breezy and drop into single digits.
Thursday is cold but dry, and Friday swings back to the 50s. A weak front Friday night could produce a little light rain. Another system Sunday brings rain, then snow showers. It’s gonna be a cold St. Patrick’s Day Parade this year.
INDY ALMANAC:
The average high today is 50 and the average low is 31. Records are 77 and 3. The sunrise time is 8:03 and the sun sets at 7:48.
