The ruts in the weather pattern are like the ones on your neighborhood streets. They are stubborn. They aren’t going anywhere for a few days. Consider this: Indy hasn’t had a stretch of normal/above normal temperatures since…… early to mid October.
We’re in a rut.
Tuesday begins – again -with a Wind Chill Advisory until 9am for much of central Indiana. Ft. Wayne smashed their record low this morning by falling to -16. Indy missed its record of -9 by about five degrees. Lafayette will only get to 12 today, with 14 expected in Muncie and Richmond. Negative numbers are in the outlook one more time tonight and early Wednesday morning.
The rut rolls on: below-average temperatures are expected through the weekend, although they’ll be a bit less bitter in a few days.
The Indy Airport takes note of snow depth and they have not reported a “0” reading since New Years Day. We peaked at 16 inches on January 6, and have been holding at 6 inches the last few days. Another inch or two is likely from two upcoming systems.
The first will hit during the day Friday, and end by later Friday evening. The second will arrive Saturday afternoon and go through the evening. The next weather maker brings morning snow showers followed by rain Monday afternoon. Some rut-busting temps look likely for much of the next work week.
