How…cold…was…it? Coldest in the north and northeast parts of the state. The official morning low was -15 in Ft. Wayne and Valaparaiso, and -13 in South Bend, Lafayette, Richmond and Muncie. The low was -6 in Indy, -4 in Shelbyville and Bloomington, and -2 in Terre Haute.
All Wind Chill Advisories will end at 1pm today in Terre Haute, Bloomington, Columbus, and places to the south. The Wind Chill Warning from Marion northward to South Bend goes until noon tomorrow.
Highs will be in single digits north of Indy today. Indy’s high should be about 10, and it will be a little above that to the south. The Chill Advisory continues from the Indy Metro area northward tonight and tomorrow morning, and then I expect just garden-variety cold weather Wednesday afternoon and evening. Bonus: today and tomorrow should feature plenty of sunshine.
The high pressure system supporting that sun begins pulling away Thursday. Another quick-moving system gives the chance for some snow to finish off the month, although nothing heavy is anticipated. Another system approaching from the southwest means snow or rain (or both) as it moves right across the state Saturday morning and midday.
For you long-rangers: snow is looking likely Tuesday and Wednesday, and it could be heavy.
