Today is the 6th time this season the temperature has gone below zero. Will it be the last? Negative. (As it were.) EVEN colder air will arrive next week, following on the heels of two snow makers this weekend.
Our first Advisory is the one for Wind Chills, and it expires at Noon. Clouds will thicken this afternoon and temps should slowly rise to the upper teens by afternoon drive time. The temperature keeps on rising this evening, along with wind speeds associated with yet another speedy clipper system.
A Winter Weather Advisory for central Indiana runs from 7pm tonight through 7am Saturday. Snow will arrive by late evening and overnight. Winds will gust to 35 mph, and the snow will accumulate from 2-4 inches by morning. Blowing and drifting could be a factor through Saturday, until winds ease a bit in the afternoon.
Saturday morning the snow stops falling and the temperature starts falling. We’ll be down to the teens again by noon, and into the single digits by later Saturday afternoon. No new snow Saturday night, but another clipper slides through Sunday. This one has the potential for another 1 to 3 inches.
The Siberian Express follows those clippers into town. We have a shot next Tuesday morning of besting the -15 temperature we saw earlier this month. One more snow chance for the long long month of January, and that arrives Thursday evening.
