The sky will be brighter than yesterday, but the chill gets even worse. Afternoon highs will only get to 21 in Lafayette, and around 23 in Muncie and Indy. Richmond hits 24 and Bloomington gets to 25. Chills are unlikley to get out of single digits, as winds gust to 25 mph. The South got the snow again! Although this time on a much smaller scale. The Weather Service estimates that up to 3′ snow fell from near Bedford to Seymour to near Greensburg. About an inch fell from Vincennes to Greenwood to Shelbyville in the overnight hours. The Indianapolis Airport total was .4 of an inch, and little or nothing fell to the north of Indy, as expected. That upper level system is pulling away, and high pressure over the southern Plains builds into our area. keeping us dry. A cold front will move through the Midwest tomorrow. A cold front? Again? Again! There is enough upper air support for that front to generate an inch or two of snow around South Bend Wednesday. Lafayette to Kokomo to Muncie could see flurries and snow showers from that weather maker tomorrow. Even colder air follows the front Wednesday into Thursday morning. Next on our Winter agenda: accumulating snow Friday night into Saturday. This time chances are spread across the state and a VERY early estimate would lead to a 2-4 inch snowfall. The worst would be gone by Saturday night, although flurries could still be around Sunday. Yet another snow chance follows Monday afternoon and evening, but it doesn’t look as potent. INDY ALMANAC: The average high today is 40 and the average low is 26. Records are 66 and -8. The sun rises at 7:55 and sets at 5:21. PAUL’S PREVIOUS PREDICTION: Yesterday’s afternoon high was 27.
