No more snow or freezing rain advisories, but I’d advise you keep calm and remain bundled tightly today. Chills will stay in the mid teens all day long. Highs will also be bundled tightly, from 27 in Indy, Muncie and Kokomo to 28 in RIchmond and Terre Haute, to 29 in Lafayette and Bloomington. Not much of a spread. And not much sunshine today. If we crack the clouds at all it will happen in the afternoon from west to east. Sorry Richmond and Muncie! Driving Monday morning could still be slippery on some side streets, given the overnight freezing fog and drizzle. When you see fog or drizzle you may also feel the liquid droplets. When we have cold temps those droplets will freeze on surfaces and start you spinnin’. Tuesday morning’s drive could also have slick spots to the south. An upper level wave moves quickly over the state, and could put down a fast inch of snow (just snow) over places around Bloomington southward after midnight tonight. An inch or less would fall around the Indy metro and Richmond, and little or no accumulation is expected from Lafayette to Kokomo and Muncie. So once again the totals will be higher (although not heavy) southward. Soon people will speak of “Lake Monroe Effect Snow.” Any snow would be moving out of central Indiana by sunrise, followed by decreasing cloudiness. Once again the breeze will be brisk Tuesday. That’s it for central Indiana storms for the work week. A cold front will pass the state Wednesday, and it will bring snow showers to the northern quarter of Indiana. The fresh shot of Arctic air behind the front will put us in single digits Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Highs all week will remain below average, and below freezing until Friday. Snow and/or rain is likely Saturday. INDY ALMANAC: The average high today is 41 and the average low is 26. Records are 65 and -15. The sunrise time is 7:54 and it sets at 5:20. PAUL’S PREVIOUS PREDICTION: Yesterday’s high was 28. My forecast was 29. DETAILED INDIANAPOLIS FORECAST: Today: Cloudy morning. Mostly cloudy afternoon. West wind to 20 mph. High 27.
