The weekend warm up holds today, with highs of 49 in Lafayette and Richmond, and 48 in Kokomo and Muncie. The Indy and Terre Haute highs hit 50, with the low 50s in Bloomington and Columbus. One change from the weekend? More clouds. Blame a warm front lifting northward through the state. Any showers today should be spotty and light, and I doubt you’ll see anything from Bloomington southward. The chance by tonight moves to Lafayette to Muncie and northward. Tomorrow’s my pick of the week. The warm front will have passed, and the cold front isn’t here yet. Temps will zoom into the mid, and perhaps upper 50s, and it will be dry. Showers are possible after midnight Tuesday night and scattered showers are likely Wednesday as the atmosphere gets active and the surface cold front approaches. It’s the last day of the December heat, with upper 50s and lower 60s possible. By the time you wake up Thursday, the cold front is history and temperatures tumble, falling to around freezing Thursday afternoon. A fresh wave of low pressure is likely to bring snow Thursday night into Friday morning. We could get an inch or two of accumulation by Friday morning, with lingering snow showers and steady temps in the mid 20s during the day Friday. Friday night the sky clears a little and the temp drops a lot. It’ll be way down in the teens for both weekend mornings. Saturday will be dry, but there’s another chance of snow Sunday afternoon and evening. INDY ALMANAC: The average high today is 44 and the average low is 29. Records are 74 and -3.
